There is also an audio recording of the text. You can play the recording of text 18 or print off the text and read it aloud to the children. After the dictation, outlined in Teacher’s Notes, display the text on PowerPoint for students to self-correct in a different colour pencil. The National Curriculum objectives are outlined in the PowerPoint - in short to write from memory a dictated passage whilst holding the pencil appropriately. This resource is about comparing two lengths using a strip of paper cut to the same height of each child in the class. Lesson plan and PowerPoint Presentation included - can be adapted. The children will enjoy this activity. It is a precursor to other types of measurements children will be learning later on in maths.
